The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR IPL Team 2024) are one of the busiest teams in the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL), which begins on Tuesday (December 19) at Dubai’s Coco Cola Arena. The two-time champions had the third-highest budget in the room, Rs. 32.7 crore, when they entered the auction.

After releasing a slew of players, including Shardul Thakur and Lockie Ferguson, barely a year after trading the duo for large sums, the Kolkata-based club set the stage for a significant roster revamp.
Shreyas Iyer, who missed the 2023 season due to injury, will return to lead the team, giving KKR IPL Team 2024 a significant boost. After impressing as captain last season, Nitish Rana has been named vice captain. Gautam Gambhir, the two-time IPL champion, has been hired as KKR’s mentor for the 2024 season.
KKR IPL Team 2024 has missed the playoffs in each of the last two seasons and will look to change that this season. This will be Chandrakant Pandit’s second season as KKR’s head coach.

Complete List of Players Purchased in KKR IPL Team 2024 Auction
In the IPL 2024 auction, the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR IPL Team 2024) honoured Gautam Gambhir’s return to the team as a mentor with a lot of fireworks. They signed ten players for a total of 31.35 crore.
- The opening bid of the day was made by KKR IPL Team 2024 for West Indies’ Rovman Powell. However, after losing him to the Rajasthan Royals, Venky Mysore and Gambhir went silent for the following several sets.
- As the first signing of the IPL 2024 auction, the two-time champions chose wicketkeeper-batter KS Bharat for his base price of 50 lakh. The team sorely needed an Indian wicketkeeper, and Bharat was the most experienced alternative available.
- The team’s next major challenge was fast-bowling for the starting 11 and reserves. Mysore and company then signed left-arm seamer Chetan Sakariya for 50 lakh, who appeared as a real prospect a few years ago but has missed out due to injuries in the previous couple of years.
- The majority of KKR IPL Team 2024’s money was spent on their next signing, Mitchell Starc, who cost a whopping 24.75 crore, the most ever paid on a single player in IPL history.
- The Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals fought for the Australian seamer until the price reached 9.60 crore before the Gujarat Titans drove the price to new highs and pulled out after almost 20 minutes of back and forth.
- KKR IPL Team 2024 then recruited Angkrish Raghuvanshi, an 18-year-old top-order batter from Delhi who also bowls a little of off-spin, for a base price of 20 lakh, followed by Ramandeep Singh, a 26-year-old batter from Chandigarh, for the same price.
- After a few breaks, the franchise signed what many will consider their best signing, West Indies international Sherfane Rutherford, for his basic price of 1.5 crore. The southpaw bats in the middle of the order and bowls with solid left-arm pace, making him an excellent backup for Andre Russell.
With barely a fraction of their purse remaining and a large number of positions to fill, KKR IPL Team 2024 made more base-price agreements during the accelerated portion of the auction.
Manish Pandey returned to his original team (2014-16), which he led to the IPL 2014 championship with a century in the final, for 50 lakh, Afghanistan spinner Mujeeb ur Rahman for 2 crore, England fast Gus Atiknson for 1 crore, and 19-year-old batter Shakib Hussain for 20 lakh.
